Job summary

Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. is seeking a Project Controls Scheduler to develop and maintain integrated project schedules across execution phases in Canada. The role collaborates with Operations, Construction, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Clients to ensure timely updates and forecast accuracy.

The ideal candidate brings 3+ years in scheduling, with CPM and Primavera P6/Microsoft Project proficiency, advanced Excel, and strong analytics. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Controls.
  • 3+ years scheduling or project controls experience in industrial, mining, oil & gas, power, renewable energy, or construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules from proposal through project completion.
  • Create and manage CPM schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Establish baselines and monitor progress against schedules.
  • Collect and validate field progress updates from construction, engineering, procurement, and subcontractors.
  • Analyze schedule performance, critical path activities, float consumption, and schedule risks.
  • Develop recovery plans and mitigation strategies for schedule variances.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, schedule updates, and executive dashboard reporting.
  • Support project forecasting, earned value management, and performance measurement activities.
  • Identify constraints, productivity impacts, and opportunities for schedule optimization.
  • Assist with change management, delay analysis, and schedule impact assessments.
  • Support bid and proposal development through schedule preparation and resource-loaded planning.
  • Ensure scheduling practices align with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records, schedules, forecasts, and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate schedule status, risks, and potential impacts to Project Management and key stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Project Controls Scheduler

Position Summary

The Project Controls Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules to support successful project execution. This role works closely with Operations, Construction, Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Clients to ensure schedule performance is monitored, risks are identified early, and accurate forecasts are provided throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules from proposal through project completion.

  • Create and manage detailed Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling software.

  • Establish project baselines and monitor progress against approved schedules.

Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or a related discipline. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

  • 3+ years of scheduling or project controls experience in industrial, mining, oil & gas, power, renewable energy, or construction projects.

  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.

  • Strong understanding of project execution, Critical Path Method (CPM), scheduling, and forecasting techniques.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

  • Valid driver's licence required.

Preferred Experience
  • Industrial electrical and instrumentation projects.

  • Earned Value Management (EVM).

  • Cost control and progress measurement systems.

  • Turnaround, mining, renewable energy, or major construction projects.

  • Power BI reporting and dashboard development.

  • Resource-loaded scheduling and schedule forecasting.
