Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Project Controls Manager to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a one-year term position, with the flexibility to work remotely or from our offices in Saskatoon or Vancouver, and occasional travel (25%) to our mine site in Northern Saskatchewan and/or our engineering office in Montreal.

The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently announced (2024) approval by the Board of Directors for the project to proceed to the formal construction phase with initial production expected in Q4 2025. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

As a key part of the Project Team, the Project Controls Manager will engage regularly with senior management and executives within the Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT). This role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the following project controls functions:

  1. Project cost control
  2. Change management
  3. Project reporting
  4. Project master schedule
  5. Performance tracking, including earned value (EV), cost performance index (CPI), and schedule performance index (SPI)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of direct reports which includes a Cost Control Lead, a Project Controls Lead, a Change Management Lead, a Lead Planner, two Cost Controllers, and two Planners.
  • Oversee all Project Cost compilations and reporting.
  • Help spearhead, in coordination with senior project executives, the estimate to complete (ETC) and estimate at completion (EAC) exercises on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensure accurate and regular field data collection from contractors and by IPMT field engineers, for all disciplines.
  • Organize and compile field data to calculate physical progress on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain physical progress curves for all disciplines and consolidate into overall progress for Surface Construction and Underground Construction, as well as project overall.
  • Calculate earned value (EV), schedule performance index (SPI), and cost performance index (CPI) on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure the Trend Notification Log is maintained and updated on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure all approved trends are advanced to Project Change Notifications (PCN’s) or Contract Change Orders (CCO’s) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain, manage, and control the contingency draw-down.
  • Ensure the project Master Schedule is updated bi-monthly and that schedule logic, resource loading, links, and start/finish dates have been reviewed and validated.
  • Ensure schedule recovery plans are implemented to effectively manage any potential schedule slippage events.
  • Ensure the monthly Project Report is compiled, reviewed, approved, and circulated.
  • Assist in coordinating engineering and construction activities in conjunction with overall project schedule requirements.
  • Provide regular briefing to Project Manager and Project Director on project financials, schedule status, issues, and concerns.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management or related degree.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a Project Controls/Project Management role.
  • Knowledge of Technology Industry Standards (ITIL/COBIT).
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Contruent Prism, In8, SAP, and P6 scheduling software would be considered an asset.
  • Highly developed verbal/written communication skills, organizational and time management skills, data analysis, problem solving, and negotiation skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $140,000 - $160,000/year based on experience and qualifications, alongside a completion bonus.
