Project Controls Lead

Location: On-site at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Chalk River, Ontario
Contract Duration: 1 Year
Start Date: June 2025
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract
Hourly Rate: $90 - $100/hour
Per Diem: Yes (if eligible) - $130 a day
Working Days: Monday - Thursday (10 hours days)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a highly organized and experienced Project Controls Lead for a 1-year contract position, working on-site at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring effective planning, scheduling, cost control, and progress reporting for complex projects within a highly regulated nuclear environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of project controls for assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, cost estimating, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent software.
  • Monitor project performance and progress against baseline schedules and budgets; identify and communicate variances.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and cost performance reports, ensuring alignment with project goals and financial targets.
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM) systems and ensure compliance with CNL’s project control standards and governance.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams to gather and validate project data.
  • Lead preparation of regular progress reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities affecting project timelines or budgets and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all reporting and controls processes meet regulatory, client, and quality assurance standards.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project controls, preferably in infrastructure, construction, or nuclear/energy sectors.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and project controls tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), cost tracking, change management, and risk analysis.
  • Experience working in high-compliance environments (nuclear, utilities, defense, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • PMP, CCP, or equivalent certification is an asset.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada and able to obtain necessary site security clearances for CNL.
