Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Coordinator for the Darlington New Nuclear Project in Clarington, Ontario. You will provide guidance on cost/control systems, schedules, and project baselines, reporting to the Project Controls Manager.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent) and at least 3 years in project controls, with strong organizational and communication skills. Valid G license and vehicle access are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in developing, establishing, and maintaining project cost/control systems.
• Support proposal and estimating efforts to connect estimates to baseline.
• Assist in developing detailed, resource-loaded schedules.
• Help convert bids to complete project baselines (budget, schedule).
• Set up project accounting systems (cost codes, procedures).
• Ensure contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management) are applied.
• Monitor project performance and ensure controls system is implemented.
• Generate project status reports and dashboards for management and customers.
• Review cost reports and suggest corrective actions to meet cost/schedule targets.
• Support change management procedures and contract compliance.
• Assist budget and forecast management during execution.

What is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The Project Controls Coordinatorwill report directly to the Project Controls Manager. This role will be responsible for providing Project Controls guidance and support to DNNP.

What You’ll Do Here

• Provide support in developing, establishing, and maintaining the company's project cost/control systems.
• Provide support in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and project baseline.
• Provide support with the development of detailed, resource-loaded schedule.
• Assist the project team in converting project bids to setting up the complete, accurate project baseline (budget, schedule).
• Assist with the set-up of project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit).
• Assist in ensuring all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout.
• Assist in monitoring project performance and ensure that the project control system is properly implemented.
• Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance report (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc.).
• Assist in the review and analysis of the project schedule and cost reports and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost and schedule.
• Assist with the implementation of the change management procedures ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon's standards.
• Provide support to the project team in budget and forecast management during execution to accurately reflect project status.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $90,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
