Job description

Heidelberg Materials is North America's leading supplier of cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and asphalt. We have hundreds of plants and thousands of employees across the United States and Canada. The company, previously operating as Lehigh Hanson and Inland Cement, rebranded in 2023. We are part of Heidelberg Cement Group, one of the world's largest building materials companies.

Heidelberg Materials is developing North America's first full-scale carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) solution for the cement industry at its Edmonton plant. Up to one million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) will be captured, transported via pipeline, and permanently sequestered in deep saline storage formations. This project includes a 120MW combined heat and power facility that will provide heat for the process and generate enough electricity for both the new and existing plant, with excess low-emission electricity exported to the grid. This initiative will help Heidelberg Materials and our customers reduce emissions and support net-zero carbon concrete offerings.

We are seeking a CCUS Project Controls Analyst for this new facility at our Cement Plant in Edmonton, AB. The Project Controls Analyst will lead and coordinate all project control functions, including scheduling, budgeting, contracts management, and risk management. The role also involves project document control and reporting. The position is based at the project office in Edmonton, Alberta.

What you'll get to do :
  1. Coordinate the project control functions.
  2. Maintain the project document control system and project filing.
  3. Coordinate and contribute to the reporting process alongside the Project Manager and Project Director for weekly, management, and steering committee meetings.
  4. Lead and coordinate schedule updates and revisions.
  5. Maintain project risk and uncertainty analyses, and contribute to recovery plans when necessary.
  6. Participate in project audits and group review processes to support project execution.
Who we are looking for :
  1. 5-8 years of experience in project controls, with expertise in scheduling or estimating.
  2. 5+ years of managing a project controls team (preferred).
  3. Four-year university degree in a related field (preferred).
  4. Experience working with EPCs (favorable) or other large contract execution models.
  5. Strong estimating and scheduling skills.
  6. Advanced understanding of software for cost and schedule control.
  7. Ability to manage through others, internal and external to the project.
What we have to offer :
  1. Competitive base salary and participation in our annual incentive plan.
  2. Highly competitive benefits program.
  3. Pension retirement savings plan with automatic company contributions and matching contributions.
  4. Our pre-employment process includes reference checks, medical screening, criminal record check, and drivers abstract check.
