Job summary

WSP is actively seeking a Project Controls Analyst to support Ecology, EIA and Heritage projects across British Columbia. You will strengthen cost control, forecasting, schedule performance, and project governance while working with project managers, environmental scientists, archaeologists and heritage specialists to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities and the environment.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, developing dashboards and earned value metrics, and ensuring alignment

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Project Management, Business, Finance, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • 7-9 years of progressive project controls, cost controls, or project financial management experience within consulting, engineering, environmental, or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting ecology, environmental assessment, permitting, archaeology, heritage, or natural resource projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Oracle financial systems, Excel, forecasting methodologies, and financial analysis, including variance reporting.
  • Experience using MS Project and/or Primavera P6, with ERP or project financial systems experience considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle delivery, change management, risk management, and performance measurement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, technical specialists, business leaders, and clients.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Ecology, EIA, and heritage projects across British Columbia, ensuring effective financial and schedule performance.
  • Implement and maintain project controls processes aligned with contractual commitments, regulatory obligations, and corporate requirements.
  • Guide Project Managers through forecasting, budget management, and project rebaselining when performance variances arise.
  • Monitor project costs, schedules, accruals, and cash flow, proactively identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
  • Contribute to project risk assessments, contingency planning, and performance recovery strategies.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards, earned value metrics, and management reports that support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to validate progress, scope, deliverables, and financial forecasts.
  • Mentor junior project controls professionals and help strengthen project controls capability across environmental project portfolios.

Play a key role in delivering Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and Heritage projects across British Columbia, helping clients navigate complex environmental, regulatory, and cultural resource challenges. As a Project Controls Analyst, you will support the successful delivery of environmental and heritage programs by strengthening cost control, forecasting, schedule performance, and project governance. Working alongside Project Managers, environmental scientists, ecologists, archaeologists, and heritage specialists, you will help drive project excellence while contributing to meaningful outcomes for communities, Indigenous Nations, clients, and the environment.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400- $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 - $97,200
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $69,900 - $92,900
