Job description

Are you looking for a role that will have you delivering reporting requirements for projects for a Restoration Project that ranges from small modifications or improvements to facility and infrastructure at WL, waste management facilities, facility decommissioning, and environmental restoration activities?

Can you see yourself supporting multiple departments, including engineering, safety analysis, licensing, technical procurement, construction/installation, commissioning and/or decommissioning work scopes? As the Project Controls Coordinator II, this role will involve working closely with Project Managers to coordinate and maintain project schedules, scope, and budgets, while providing regular reporting and forecasting to stakeholders. What will you be doing!

  • Supporting project managers and cost account managers in coordinating and managing project schedules, budgets, resources and project risks and issues.
  • Tracking project progress and identifying potential issues, risks or delays.
  • Communicating project status to project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Preparing and maintaining project status reports, including project schedule and budget.
  • Supporting project managers in the preparation of project reports and presentations.
  • Supporting project managers in the procurement process, including the preparation of purchase requisitions and tracking of invoices, payments, and accruals.
  • Providing input to the preparation of project plans and reporting related to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Coordinating the work and activities of a small number of interfaces to accomplish project-related tasks in accordance with project expectations.
  • Monitoring and analyzing general project information, identifying anomalies, and recommending or taking corrective action where appropriate.
  • Analyzing project forecasts and resource demand information, cash flow analysis, cost estimating, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to improve project management processes and practices.
  • The work can be demanding and fast-paced, with pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • University degree or college diploma in a relevant field from an accredited school.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2 – 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience in Project Management; or
    • In the absence of a diploma/degree, 4 – 6 years of progressively more responsible work experience in Project Management.
    • A Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification is required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and processes, as recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a proven ability to apply this knowledge to the Project Controls of large and complex undertakings, especially those related to scope, schedule, cost, risk and change control.
    • Proven ability to apply knowledge of Earned Value Analysis.
    • Understanding of the methods and resources used by functions engaged to perform project activities, e.g. Engineering, Licensing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Manufacturing, etc., as well as the deliverables typically produced.
    • Strong computer skills; Advanced level capability with project scheduling software (i.e. Primavera).
    • Able to learn/use CNL computer applications such as MFRC / Merlin, PCRS, and Cobra.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day, starting at 6 am.
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required
