Job description

Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? We are looking for a Project Control Coordinator I to provide support and assistance to ensure the smooth execution of assigned projects. Do you have experience with supporting documentation and information management, record keeping, cost control, tracking project progress and maintaining project files? What will you be doing!

  • Project Management, with guidance from the Senior Project Control Coordinator/Project Leader/Project Manager.
    • Obtaining and organizing information for scope definition and assisting in preparing the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
    • Preparing and maintaining baseline and working project schedules.
    • Gathering of information to analyze schedule performance, variances, monitor trends, recommending improvements, taking corrective actions and implementing changes.
    • Preparation of gating and sanctioning documentation.
    • Obtaining and monitoring actual cost expenditure information and measuring project progress performance using Earned Value Analysis.
    • Coordinating changes to scope and cost, ensuring related approval and configuration management documentation is in place before baselines are adjusted.
    • Coordinating, producing and maintaining the risk register.
    • Analyzing of schedule/cost performance and risk assessment.
    • Coordinating resource and cost loading of schedules.
    • Presenting source information used for financial forecasting and resource demand to the Project Team.
    • Assisting with project-related procurements.
    • Working closely with the Project Leader, Project Manager and/or Senior PCC to ensure document submissions are complete in a timely manner.
    • Assisting the project team with achieving project targets, and customer and company expectations.
    • Tracking and managing incoming and outgoing project documentation as necessary.
    • Developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with project team members.
  • Continuous Improvement / Innovation
    • Providing input into specific job-related procedural improvements utilizing innovative approaches.
    • Familiarizing oneself with the scopes of assigned projects and required mission-specific processes.
    • Actively participating in training.
  • Risks / Opportunities
    • Responding to situations to contain/mitigate immediate to short-term risk in accordance with established processes and procedures.
    • Significant checking and balancing of work.
    • Escalating issues outside of standards, precedents and guidelines.
    • Being aware of emergency response processes and adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Graduation from a post-secondary school with a diploma or degree in a discipline related to project management, business, commerce or technology.
  • Experience
    • Without post-secondary education, one (1) year of project controls experience is required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Proven ability to communicate across multiple teams and at different organizational levels.
    • Excellent organizational skills and oral and written communication capabilities.
    • Adept at synthesizing information and distilling such information into clear and concise messages for written reports or oral presentations.
    • Demonstrates questioning attitude and can assimilate complex data and recommend solutions.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Strong computer skills; Working level capability in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, Visio), and Oracle.
    • Ability to learn/use ATOM document management system and other CNL applications.
    • Self-motivated and a team player.
    • Ability to perform duties based on broad general direction with minimal oversight and willing to work cooperatively with others.
    • Demonstrated strong work ethic, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
    • Working level capability with project scheduling software (i.e. Primavera).
    • Ability to learn/use CNL computer applications such as MFRC / Merlin and PCRS.
    • General understanding of and proven ability to conduct variance analysis on labour, cost, and schedule performance.
    • Basic knowledge of the methods and resources used to perform project activities related to Engineering, Licensing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Manufacturing, Integrated Work Control, Waste Management, as well as the deliverables typically produced.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
