Responsibilities

• Lead Closures engineering activities from early concept through production launch and post-launch support.
• Collaborate with Product Planning and Design teams.
• Establish and manage Cost, Weight, and Investment targets.
• Oversee supplier sourcing and design release for tooling.
• Manage component and system testing plans.
• Provide hands-on support during pilot builds and plant launches.
• Address warranty and quality issues post-launch.

Job Title: Project Chief – Closures Engineering

Overview:

We’re seeking a highly skilledProject Chiefto lead the engineering and development ofClosures commodities—including Door in White, Hood, Fender, Sealing Systems, and Liftgates—across the full lifecycle of vehicle programs. From concept to launch and beyond, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping vehicle design, ensuring technical feasibility, and driving successful execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Closures engineering activities from early concept through production launch and post-launch support.
• Collaborate with Product Planning and Design teams to guide vehicle styling toward feasible technical solutions.
• Establish and manage Cost, Weight, and Investment targets for new vehicle programs.
• Oversee supplier sourcing and ensure timely design release for tooling.
• Manage component and system testing plans, timelines, and recovery strategies.
• Provide hands-on support during pilot builds and plant launches.
• Address and resolve warranty and quality issues related to exterior trim post-launch.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree with relevant experience).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Closures, Body in White, or Exterior Systems design and development.
• Proficiency in Unigraphics NX and TeamCenter (2+ years).
• Strong understanding of materials and coatings (e.g., galvanized, e-coat).
• Experience with root cause analysis for field issues, including water and air loss testing.
• Familiarity with lab procedures, product testing, and corrosion mitigation.
• Proven experience in launch environments and change management processes.

Preferred Skills:

• Automotive engineering experience (e.g., BAJA, SAE projects).
• Knowledge of ECM, Design Release, and Program Management.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $46.00/hr.
