Job description

We have an opportunity in our Vancouver office for a Project Architect / Project Manager to join our team.

Welcome to Kasian, where almost 40 years of design excellence has sparked a passion for transforming ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences. Our passion is strengthening connections between people and places by creating built environments that inspire and improve lives. With offices across Canada, we leverage the experience of our 250+ Kasian team members to deliver innovative and unique design solutions in multiple market sectors: commercial, workplace, healthcare, senior living, industrial, transportation, post-secondary and other public opportunities.

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Project Architect / Project Manager to join our Toronto team and play a key role in delivering complex, high-profile aviation projects. Large-scale project experience is essential for this opportunity.

Working alongside our project and design leaders, you’ll take the lead on projects of varying scale and complexity, guiding them from early design through successful delivery. You’ll bring strong design thinking and technical expertise, keep teams and consultants aligned, and build trusted relationships with clients while ensuring their goals remain at the heart of the project.

Beyond project delivery, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact on the team itself—mentoring and supporting designers, sharing your expertise, and helping grow Kasian’s aviation and design capabilities.

Here’s what you’ll be doing at Kasian:

Plan

  • Help shape new opportunities by responding to RFPs and EOIs
  • Prepare fee proposals, agreements, and design contracts
  • Set projects up for success by defining scope, work plans, schedules, drawing requirements, budgets, and team resources
  • Plan ahead for project staffing and workload, working with teams across the firm to make sure the right resources are in place

Deliver

  • Keep projects moving by setting priorities, assigning work, and making sure the team understands key deliverables, timelines, and expectations
  • Lead and support project teams through design and construction documentation, creating opportunities for team members to grow along the way
  • Coordinate consultant work to make sure drawings, specifications, project requirements, and client expectations stay aligned
  • Keep a close eye on project budgets, fees, schedules, and overall profitability
  • Manage additional service requests, including fee discussions with clients when project scope changes
  • Stay on top of invoicing, project time, expenses, and consultant invoices
  • Help identify and manage project risks before they become bigger issues
  • Oversee key zoning, by-law, and Building Code reviews
  • Support contract administration, including site reviews, deficiency reports, certificates of payment, and letters of assurance
  • Keep project documentation and records organized and up to date
  • Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction throughout the project
  • Lead design and production meetings, keeping teams aligned and decisions moving forward
  • Mentor team members and share your project management experience
  • Build strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and trusted project leadership

Review

  • Keep a pulse on project performance, quality, budget, scope, and schedule, flagging concerns early and working with the Project Director to find solutions
  • Regularly review project delivery and make adjustments when needed to keep things on track
  • Coordinate peer reviews at key project milestones
  • Make sure the agreed project scope is being delivered and communicate any changes with the client and Project Director
  • Lead project wrap-up conversations and share lessons learned with the Project Delivery Group and Directors so the whole team benefits from the experience

Here’s what you bring to Kasian:

  • A degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design, or a related field
  • Ideally, professional registration with a provincial regulatory body and the ability to sign and seal applicable instruments of service
  • Experience with Design-Build and other alternative project delivery methods
  • 8+ years of project management experience within Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field, with large-scale project experience is essential
  • Familiarity with how BC healthcare authorities work and deliver projects is a strong asset
  • A good understanding of permit applications and approval processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus
  • Comfortable using project management and project delivery tools; MS Project experience is an asset
  • Proven ability to keep projects moving and deliver against tight schedules
  • Strong communication and people skills, with a collaborative leadership style
  • Someone who enjoys mentoring and supporting the growth of others
  • Highly organized, able to juggle multiple priorities, and comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment

What We Offer:

  • A creative and collaborative environment
  • Competitive salary and annual performance reviews
  • Mentorship programs and career growth opportunities
  • Flexibility and work-life balance in a values-driven workplace

Salary starts at $110,000+ per annum, based on a 40-hour workweek. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
