Job summary

Responsibilities

About the role:

This role supports senior leadership by managing strategic projects, analyzing business performance, and recommending process, system, and profitability improvements across supported areas. It also serves as a key liaison for business teams, leading system enhancements, vendor audits, reporting, RFP analysis, and special initiatives for Canadian Originations Management.

In this role you will:

  • Support senior management of areas supported in documentation and planning for longer range objectives and goals as well as setting direction and providing recommendations for the best approach for achieving those goals.
  • Serve as project manager and/or project facilitator for completing strategic initiatives as outlined by senior management of areas supported.
  • Analyze efficiency and effectiveness of supported areas making recommendations for new processes/structure and/or changes to existing processes/structure.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations for profit improvement where appropriate.
  • Monitor and analyze the profitability of multiple projects within assigned areas.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Origination and Operations systems
  • Lead and facilitate system enhancement projects, including the development of business requirements, functional requirements, user acceptance testing scripts/execution, timelines, cost/benefit analysis, and management presentations.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and analysis of Request for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Maintain extensive business, technical, and financial knowledge of assigned area.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to staff and serving as primary liaison for assigned business areas.
  • Lead negotiations and/or strategy sessions and provide appropriate support to management.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting to supported areas as needed using reporting tools and languages such as SQL or SAS
  • Perform audits of vendor data where applicable, as well as monitor and evaluate vendor SLAs against contractual agreements
  • Support Canadian Originations Management Team by leading special projects such as business process improvement initiatives, investigation of specific issues, system enhancements.
  • Develop new processes or financial systems.
  • Serve as the key contact and maintains a high level of expertise in all system and process aspects of their assigned area.
Qualifications

  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) or like products.
  • Working knowledge of Finance/Accounting principles.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Working knowledge and experience of originations systems such as Flexoris, Autosuite, RightFax, iSeries, LOS, LOS Imaging, Provenir, or Contract Processing
  • Workflow (CPW).
  • Working knowledge of origination and reporting systems to include Salesforce, Cognos, and data warehousing methodologies
  • Working knowledge of reporting systems and languages to include SQL or SAS
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of data/information sources.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills required (i.e., macro developing and debugging, advanced charting, advanced functions).
  • Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, and promotes corporate citizenship.

  • Advanced mathematical skills with a demonstrated ability to perform calculations and financial analysis on financial data, to include cost models and return on investment analysis.

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years business experience preferably in Financial Analysis, Project Management and/or Systems Support roles preferred.
  • 2-4 years increasingly responsible experience in branch operations or auto finance industry preferred.

At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits after 30 days of employment.
