Responsibilities
  • PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provides project and maintenance planning expertise and leadership in an operations and maintenance environment. Establishes a process to obtain information, update raw data and closely monitor project and maintenance resource allocation, status and risks.
  • Key Accountabilities: Analyzes, monitors, tracks and makes recommendations related to the project throughout the project and maintenance life cycle, including activation, maintenance activities, procurement processes, life cycle and project costs, cash flow forecasts, capitalization and closing.
  • Assists with planning and developing projects, defining standards, objectives, schedules and risks; determines internal and external resource needs to minimize impacts on operating and maintenance requirements; assists in budgeting, coordinating evaluations, monitoring progress, assessing risk and recommending corrective actions.
  • Analyzes current project commitments and reports deviations from the plan; coordinates resources; receives service calls and adjusts work priorities to address problems and urgent requests.
  • Provides internal control checks for completeness, accuracy and proper signoff of project forms and invoices; ensures delivery targets are met.
  • Develops and updates project reporting to track progress, schedule performance and budget adherence; assists in producing and analyzing project documents, including resource plans.
  • Assists in day-to-day project operations by analyzing task requirements to schedule and coordinate work of technical/trades staff and contractors.
  • Tracks number of project staff and ensures adherence to budgeted headcount.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • The requirements are typically met with a Diploma in a related technical field, project planning and some project management courses.
  • Three (3) years of previous related project management experience in an engineering or technical environment.

Other Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills for business improvements and change initiatives.
  • Solid experience with project coordination and implementation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or alternative project planning software.
  • Proficiency with standard office software tools, including word processing, advanced spreadsheet software, statistical packages and data management systems.
  • Understanding of project scope, work breakdown structure (WBS) and sequencing in engineering, manufacturing and construction to develop a resource allocation plan aligned with capital and maintenance project plans.
  • PMP certification would be an asset.
  • Eligibility to be registered with APEGBC, ASTTBC would be an asset.

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Resident — This position works predominately on-site.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $75,600 - $113,400 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role. Total Compensation Package includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan, among other benefits.
