Job summary

Concert Properties Ltd. in Vancouver seeks a Project Accountant to join our Development Finance Accounting team.

You will provide accounting and reporting support to the Development Finance team with an energetic, detail-oriented approach across a broad range of responsibilities. The role involves preparing monthly funding requests and loan draws, reviewing accounts payable, supporting financial reporting, and coordinating with Sales/Marketing for deposits, mortgage approvals, and commissions.

Qualifications

• At least two years of general accounting experience.
• Experience in real estate development or construction is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with Yardi is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly funding requests and loan draws, and monitor balances.
• Review accounts payable and maintain project costing records.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Coordinate sales reports on deposits, mortgage approvals, and commissions.
• Update property tax tracking and ensure timely tax payments.
• Assist in sales-closing processes with legal counsel and sales staff.
• Prepare project-level accounting info, trial balances, and GL reconciliations.
• Contribute to AP digital transformation and process improvements.
• Review departmental processes and suggest improvements.
• Assist in project status reports for straightforward projects.
• Support development/construction teams with commitments and ad hoc reporting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Accountant to join Concert’s Development Finance Accounting team in Vancouver. The successful candidate will provide accounting and reporting support to the Development Finance team and take an energetic, detail-oriented approach to a broad range of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly funding requests and construction loan draws, ensuring that complete and accurate information is provided to all funding partners. Maintain and monitor loan balances, deposit insurance balances, and related interest.
• Review accounts payable and assist in maintaining up-to-date, complete and accurate accounts payable and project costing records.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting by preparing required schedules and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with Sales and Marketing teams to prepare and maintain reports and schedules related to sales documentation, purchaser deposits, mortgage approvals, and commission payments.
• Update the property tax assessment and property tax notice tracker and coordinate with Corporate Accounting to ensure all property taxes are paid in a timely manner.
• Assist the Senior Accountant in liaising with external legal counsel and Sales staff to support an accurate and timely sales-closing process.
• Prepare monthly project-level accounting information and financial reports, including trial balance reviews, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and variance and ratio analysis.
• Support the development, documentation, and implementation of the accounts payable digital transformation strategy and related process improvements.
• Review and document departmental processes and procedures, and recommend improvements where appropriate.
• Assist the Senior Accountant in preparing project status reports for straightforward, stand‑alone projects.
• Support development and construction teams with commitment setup and ad hoc reporting.
• Other accounting duties as required.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• At least two years of general accounting experience; experience in real estate development or construction is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work through thorough self-review.
• Solid oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with Yardi is a plus.
