Job summary

Winchesters is seeking a Project Accountant to join its Accounting team. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a focus on real estate development and/or property accounting.

You will manage a portfolio of development entities, conduct reconciliations, prepare financial reporting, and monitor cash flow, with exposure to joint ventures and land development projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience within real estate development and/or property accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• Understanding of joint ventures, partnerships, and other business arrangements.
• Experience with cash flow analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience with development project costing and financing is an asset.
• CPA designation completed or nearing completion is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across different departments.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of development companies, including journal entries, reconciliations, and trial balance reviews.
• Prepare monthly bank and loan reconciliations, including related interest calculations.
• Review and process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice coding and vendor management.
• Monitor project costs, job costing, and cost allocations.
• Track and reconcile lot discharges, house closings, and letters of credit.
• Prepare intercompany reconciliations and monthly financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor development project cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
• Prepare funding draws and analyze loan and letter of credit utilization.
• Assist with joint venture accounting, including cash calls, distributions, and equity reconciliations.
• Support HST returns, audits, and other financial reporting requirements.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and financial analysis.
