The Opportunity:

As a Project Accountant at WSP, you will be the precision behind our financial operations, ensuring every charge is justified and every project’s financial flow is seamless. You’ll collaborate closely with teams, driving efficiency and fostering strong relationships to enhance our project accounting practices.

This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI). The PHAI represents the federal government’s response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.

Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based at the project site in Port Hope, Ontario.

What You Can Expect To Do Here

  • You will adhere to client specifications and established protocols, generate time and material invoices ensuring all charges billed are backed up with original documentation, thus maintaining the integrity of our financial operations.
  • You will diligently verify and input data entry documents into our advanced accounting system, contributing to the seamless financial workflow of our projects.
  • You will swiftly enact budget modifications and variance adjustments in alignment with our Month End Schedule.
  • You will regularly review Work in Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) for precision, working with Unit & Project Managers to address any concerns and maintain financial health.
  • You will provide essential financial information and training to operational staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
  • You will work closely with operations to optimize information delivery to the Project Accounting team.
  • You will keep open lines of communication with Project Managers and Unit Managers, staying informed about the Project Accounting function and its impact on their roles.

What You Will Bring To WSP

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or similar.
  • Experience working within a consulting or professional services company.
  • Project based accounting experience.
  • Experience using a cost accounting system, preference will be given to candidates with experience in Oracle.
  • Strong analysis skills, experience detecting errors and variances.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, experience using V-Lookup formula and Pivot Tables.
  • Must be eligible for CNL Reliability Status security clearance.
