This role manages full cycle project accounting, including payables, receivables, tax filings, accruals, and month-end and year-end close. The Project Accountant prepares monthly financial reports, monitors costs, revenues, and cash flow, and ensures compliance with budgets, accounting standards, and internal controls.• Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, holdback accounts, HST filings, accruals, and other related tasks. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. • Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. • Monitor project costs, expenses, and revenues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary constraints. • Review and reconcile project-related accounts, including payables, receivables, and general ledger accounts. • Collaborate with project managers to track project progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities. • Conduct regular financial audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. • Provide financial analysis and support to project teams, including variance analysis, cost benefit analysis, and cash flow projections. • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed. • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices related to project accounting.**Required Skills and Competencies**• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. • Required Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. • 5+ years proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction industry. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. • Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentTotal compensation for this role includes an annual salary in the range of $85K - $125K depending on working experience, education, and certifications, benefits, vacation pay, sick pay, training , and RSP matching contribution.
