Job summary

ACCIONA invites applications for an Assistant Surveyor to support land, topographic, and construction surveys, ensuring precise measurements and alignment with engineering plans. You will work closely with surveyors, engineers, and construction teams in a field-heavy role based in Don Mills Area, North York.

The job is full-time with potential overtime; requires a Diploma/Associate degree in surveying or related field and 1+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of surveying, land measurement, or construction layout experience.
• Proficiency with Total Stations, GPS, and other surveying instruments.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or similar tools.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and construction sites.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and precise instruction following.

Job Description

The Assistant Surveyor supports land and construction surveying activities by helping collect, record, and analyze data to ensure accurate measurements for engineering and construction projects. This role collaborates closely with surveyors, engineers, and construction teams to ensure proper project execution and compliance with design specifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety standards, surveying regulations, and project specifications.
• Assist in land, topographic, and construction site surveys using Total Stations, GPS, and other surveying instruments.
• Support site layout and staking out, ensuring structures and infrastructure align with engineering plans.
• Collect, record, and process survey measurements, elevations, and site conditions.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
• Help prepare survey maps, reports, and technical drawings for engineering and construction teams.
• Collaborate with surveyors, civil engineers, and project managers to provide accurate site data.
• Support in monitoring ground movement, settlement, and site deformations for stability assessments.
• Use surveying software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or Trimble/Leica systems) for data processing and visualization.
• Assist in marking control points and benchmarks for ongoing construction activities.

Work Conditions

Work Location: Don Mills Area, North York. Next to Don Valley station. Primarily field-based, with some office work for data processing. Full-time, with potential for overtime, nighttime and weekend work depending on project requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Diploma or associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in surveying, land measurement, or construction layout.
• Basic proficiency in surveying instruments (Total Stations, GPS, Laser Levels, etc.).
• Familiarity with surveying software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar tools).
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills for measuring and interpreting data.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and navigate construction sites.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with surveyors and engineers.

Salary: his role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $70,000–$90,000 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
