Programs Therapist Temporary - Part Time

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Complete documentation including program guides, participation tracking, statistics, assessments, care plan updates, and progress notes.
  • Plan and implement innovative recreational programs based on resident assessments.
  • Organize special events, community programs, and outings.
  • Evaluate and adapt programs as needed.
  • Ensure access to appropriate assistive devices for residents.
  • Participate in meetings and care conferences.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Keep posters, notices, and calendars updated and accessible.
  • Develop media notices and community contacts to enhance programming.
  • Understand and contribute to quality indicators and improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation, leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, or related fields from an Ontario institution, or equivalent from another jurisdiction.
  • Experience working with seniors and familiarity with GPA, PIECES, U FIRST, and Butterfly statements is preferred.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.
  • Computer literacy and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of RAI-MDS; AIS certification or willingness to obtain within one year.
  • Second language skills (Chinese, Portuguese, Italian, Eastern European languages) are assets.
  • CPR certification.
  • Ability to interact empathetically and promote positive social interactions.
  • Willingness to meet legal requirements, including a Vulnerable Sector Check and TB testing.
  • Two supervisory references and COVID-19 vaccination required.
