Programme Lead - Major Civil Engineering

Working for a consultancy involved with some of the largest Civil Engineering projects in the UK.

Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 basic + package including lodgings (full lodging provided as you will be on site 4-5 days per week)

Location: Southampton (Based on site 4-5 days per week)

Role Description

As a Programme Lead, you will be leading the Civil Engineering scheme on behalf of the client, managing the £100m scheme from start to finish. Managing the client team on site, ensuring the project is completed against contractual agreements and design specifications. Leading technical, commercial, and operational functions with a team, managing these elements with contractors on site.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring the programme is delivered against NEC contractual agreements.
  2. Managing design development, construction, and commissioning.
  3. Working with internal professional advisers to ensure works proceed according to planning permissions, licenses, and regulations.
  4. Leading health, safety, well-being, quality, and environmental performance.
  5. Scrutinising contractor information, including payment applications, programmes, compensation events, and early warning notices.
  6. Chairing meetings with designers, stakeholders, and contractors to coordinate works.
  7. Managing key stakeholder relationships to enable project success.
  8. Producing monthly progress reports and facilitating timely decision-making for successful commercial outcomes.

This role requires onsite presence, serving as a visible leader to the internal team and stakeholders. Also, acting as an escalation point for technical or operational issues.

Required Experience
  • Formal qualification - HNC / HND or Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proven project experience delivering a £50m+ project, ideally working in partnership with or on behalf of the client.
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to live in Southampton 4-5 days per week for the next 3 years.
