Salary: $59,555 - $79,673 per annum

This is a provisional classification. Formal regular review classification procedures may be initiated at any time by the incumbent or supervisor after the incumbent has worked a minimum of six months in the role.

The Faculty of Management is recognized for its innovative, values-based approach to management education and research. Reporting to the Associate Dean (Academic), the Program Pathways Navigator is responsible for collaboratively overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Pathways program dedicated to Black and African Nova Scotian students, developing and implementing community outreach and recruitment strategies, and providing academic and culturally relevant student support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and facilitate supportive and culturally informed programming aimed at enhancing student well-being and success.
  • Work collaboratively with other employees and units to develop and maintain connections with African Nova Scotian community partners.
  • Participate on relevant internal and external committees to foster relationships within the African Nova Scotian community.
  • Consult with designated students regarding course selection and educational resources.
  • Advise students in personalized job search techniques and career development.
  • Identify barriers to career success for designated students.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree with three to five years related experience in student services, academic advising, or coaching.
  • Lived experience within the African Nova Scotian/Black community.
  • Understanding of history, values, and culture of African Nova Scotians.
  • Existing relationships with African Nova Scotian communities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of African Nova Scotian/Black students.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Assets
  • Prior experience in a post-secondary environment.
