Why WestJet:

Every WestJet journey has the potential to enrich lives; a career with us is no exception.

WestJet arrived on the Canadian airline scene in 1996 and changed the industry for the better. We made air travel more affordable for Canadians and now we're going global.

Join us, this is where your career story takes off.

Please note: This is a hybrid work position in Calgary Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) a minimum of 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.

Overview of role:

As the Program Manager – Integrated Planning, you lead strategic, cross-functional planning initiatives that align the airline’s commercial objectives with operational capabilities. This role bridges commercial and operational perspectives to ensure schedule plans are feasible, financially sound, and strategically aligned. It contributes to planning processes that improve long-term reliability, resiliency, and profitability.

This role serves as a connective role between commercial strategy and operational feasibility, contributing to long-term reliability, schedule quality, and business outcomes. Strength in both relationship management and business knowledge is key.

  • Take a leading role in developing the integrated Commercial and Operations multi-year roadmap, which considers long lead, strategic items within the 5-year horizon to achieve the network capacity and growth plan (not limited to forecasted network growth, resource gaps, hangar capacity, Tech Ops capabilities, crew base forecast & airport capacity). Coordinate inputs from commercial stakeholders, acting as a liaison between departments to align priorities and resolve planning conflicts.
  • Promote and lead with all commercial business units to identify problem statements, develop and implement initiatives that drive continuous improvements & accountabilities, while focusing on operational & profitability KPIs and business targets to achieve goals.
  • Coordinate and participate in seasonal schedule reviews & lookbacks; identifying performance trends and contribute to short, medium and long-range improvements.
  • Support the multi-year season planning cycle by presenting data analysis & insights used to inform network schedules and operational decisions.
  • Develop a centralized view of all integrated planning metrics through reporting & tool sets – capacity, constraints & profitability to support trad-off decisions across fleet, crew, airport and commercial considerations.
  • Drive business case development & investment decisions in service of 5-year plan capacity targets & strategic objectives.
  • Identify key assumptions used in planning and monitor for changes or disruptions including fleet plan, crew resources, major infrastructure projects impacting capacity & develop action plans to address and mitigate.
  • Identify gaps in process & communication flows and build out process & communication flows with clear accountabilities.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6-8 years in planning, analytics, commercial strategy or operations.
  • Experience in aviation and / or transportation industry environments.
  • Familiarity with both strategic, commercial and operational planning is an asset.
  • Proven success in leading cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.
  • Occasional travel may be required to operational hubs or partner locations.
