RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a renowned biomedical and hospital research centre located in Montreal, Quebec. It serves as the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), affiliated with McGill University's Faculty of Medicine. The institute receives support from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

Under the supervision of the Program Leader, the Program Manager will oversee all scientific and administrative activities of the Research Program. The role involves acting as the primary facilitator between the Program Leadership, research teams, and RI-MUHC administration.

General Duties

1. Provide strategic advice to the Program Leader for project development, planning, and implementation aligned with the Program’s goals.
2. Facilitate research activities through meetings, committees, seminars, and special events.
3. Manage all aspects of the research program, including scientific, strategic, administrative, operational, financial, and technical components.
4. Develop internal procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
5. Build collaborative partnerships within and outside the research community.
6. Collaborate with Pre-awards and Business Development offices to expand funding opportunities.
7. Lead coordination in preparing major funding proposals and stay informed on grant guidelines (e.g., CFI, CIHR).
8. Identify targeted funding sources and support researchers in grant applications.
9. Oversee reporting activities related to finances, grants, and policies; monitor key projects.
10. Contribute to program documentation such as annual reports, FRQS, SAC reports, website content, and presentations.
11. Partner with senior management on special projects and provide operational insights.
12. Participate in RI-MUHC committees and collaborate with other Program Managers.
13. Coordinate research space allocation and manage laboratory and administrative spaces.
14. Manage research equipment and liaise with technical departments for maintenance and procurement.
15. Assist in organizing program reviews of studentship applications.
16. Oversee internal and external communications, developing communication strategies and materials.
17. Promote best practices and resource sharing within the program.
18. Facilitate community engagement and research staff onboarding.
19. Plan and oversee resource allocation, including human, financial, and material resources.
20. Manage administrative staff and oversee administrative services for the program.
