Our project management business, supported by technical experts, manages capital programs and projects as if they were our own. We work with clients to strategize, plan, and implement projects across various sectors, including hospitals, airports, university campuses, infrastructure like mass transit and water-treatment facilities, and energy projects from mines to wind farms.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our team. You will lead an integrated program team, ensuring adherence to the program’s mission and objectives. Responsibilities include overseeing stakeholder deliverables, contract administration, change orders, procurement, project financials, and schedule management, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in line with safety standards.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist owners/clients with program execution, addressing strategy and delivery challenges, and supporting internal departments. Oversee implementation of delivery procedures and monitor team performance.
  2. Manage all services provided by the integrated team, including program and project management, design, technical support, regulatory and permitting support, procurement, construction management, community outreach, and knowledge transfer.
  3. Provide daily guidance to multidisciplinary teams in a co-located Program Management Office environment at a client facility.
  4. Serve as a trusted advisor to the client, working as part of the leadership team.
  5. Help the client establish and implement a governance structure for project and program management.
  6. Proactively identify client needs and potential risks to delivery.
  7. Assist in developing staff through best practices, training, and knowledge transfer.
  8. Develop and manage consultant service agreements for program management.
  9. Prepare reports for the client and internal stakeholders.
  10. Review submittals and technical documents from consultants and contractors.
  11. Provide programmatic and technical support to client governing bodies and departments.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Extensive project management experience in organizing, planning, and executing large public and private projects.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey needs and develop proposals.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Client background check required due to infrastructure involvement.
  • Deep technical understanding of large infrastructure projects and processes.
  • Proven leadership in team direction, strategy, change management, and corporate stewardship.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, codes, safety, and regulations.
  • Experience supporting sales and new project initiation is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and client offices.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum 20 years of relevant project management experience, especially in large engineering and construction projects.
  • At least 10 years leading multidisciplinary teams in utility infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences; a master’s degree is an asset.
  • PMP or PE certification preferred.
