Qualifications

• Must be 19 years of age or older per provincial licensing.
• Responsible Adult Certification or 20 hours of PD in child health, safety or development.
• Experience working with children.
• Valid First Aid with CPR Level B/C.
• Class 4 Driver's Licence is an asset.

The YMCA Child Care division is seeking Activity Program Leaders to deliver engaging after-school care programs at various locations throughout the region. Working collaboratively with a dynamic and supportive team, you will create safe, fun, and interest-led experiences for children ages 5-12 while fostering meaningful relationships and supporting healthy child development.

Quick Facts

• Compensation: $18.25/hr


• Reporting to: Child Care Supervisor/Manager


• Schedule: Monday-Friday, typically 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., with opportunities for additional hours during school breaks and early dismissal days.


• Location: Various YMCA Child Care program locations.


• Employment Status: Part-Time

What You Will Do

Lead engaging and meaningful after-school programming for children ages 5-12.

• Deliver high-quality program planning that reflects YMCA values and children's interests.


• Maintain safety and supervision standards in accordance with provincial licensing requirements.


• Build positive relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and colleagues.


• Actively engage with children as a play partner, mentor, and homework helper.


• Support play-based educational experiences including literacy, mathematics, science, building activities, drama, games, sports, and daily physical activity.


• Foster a fun, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.


• Encourage teamwork, creativity, and healthy child development through purposeful programming.


• Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives and events.

What You Bring

• Must be 19 years of age or older in accordance with provincial licensing standards.


• Responsible Adult Certification or a minimum of 20 hours of professional development related to children's health, nutrition, safety, development, and/or guidance.


• Experience working with children.


• Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C.


• Valid Class 4 Driver's Licence is considered an asset.
