Program Leader

- Wage: $23.50 per hour
- Hours: Part-Time, Monday - Friday, between 7am - 5:30pm. Term position ending August 31, 2025.
- Location: Parksville, BC
This is a summer term position.
Job Duties:
- Assist with the design, implementation, and evaluation of a program schedule that includes age-appropriate activities aligned with BGCCVI Core Programming standards.
- Ensure children are actively supervised at all times.
- Be aware of the outstanding issues/needs of program participants and develop care plans. Work as part of a team to implement these plans and strategies to ensure consistent practice. When funding is available, a Program Leader may be designated as a Supported Child Development (SCD) staff, working closely with other staff to support the child's and group's needs.
- Observe and provide feedback on the child's progress and contribute to planning new areas of focus, collaborating with parents, caregivers, staff, and Child Development Centre.
- Work as a key member of an integrated staff team committed to inclusion, excellence, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain effective relationships with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders.
- Administer first aid and medication following club policies and licensing regulations.
- Participate in promotional activities, programs, or events as required.
- Ensure participant and staff safety at all times by maintaining appropriate adult-to-child ratios, conducting safety drills, and supervising children and youth.
- Adhere to program standards, guidelines, policies, and licensing requirements.
- Report all incidents and injuries via the online reporting system.
Qualifications:
- Complete 20 hours of training or coursework in Child Development, Guidance, Health and Safety, Nutrition, or hold a Responsible Adult Certificate.
- Post-secondary training in Child and Youth Care, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience, is preferred.
- Possession of a Class 4 driving license or willingness to obtain one is preferred.
