Job description

Program Leader

What's in it for you?

  • Wage: $20.00 per hour
  • Hours: Part-Time, Monday - Friday, between 7am - 5:30pm
  • Location: Courtenay, BC

Job Duties:

  1. Assist with the design, implementation, and evaluation of a program schedule that includes age-appropriate activities for participants, adhering to BGCCVI Core Programming standards.
  2. Ensure children are actively supervised at all times.
  3. Support the implementation of care plans, and when funding allows, serve as Supported Child Development (SCD) staff, working closely with other staff to support children's needs.
  4. Observe and provide feedback on children's progress to parents/caregivers and other staff, contributing to the development of new strategies as needed.
  5. Work as a key member of an inclusive, collaborative staff team focused on excellence and conflict resolution.
  6. Maintain effective relationships with parents, caregivers, and stakeholders.
  7. Administer first aid and medication following club policies and licensing regulations.
  8. Participate in promotional activities, programs, or events as required.
  9. Ensure the safety of participants and staff by maintaining proper supervision, conducting safety drills, and adhering to adult-to-child ratios.
  10. Maintain program standards, policies, and licensing requirements.
  11. Report incidents and injuries promptly using the online reporting system.

Qualifications:

  1. Completion of 20 hours of training in Child Development, Guidance, Health and Safety, Nutrition, or a Responsible Adult Certificate.
  2. Post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Recreation, or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred.
  3. Class 4 driver's license or willingness to obtain one is preferred.
