Job description

The Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centre (SEYFRC) offers programming, services and resources for all families with young children, prenatal to age five. The SEYFRC aims to provide families with positive early learning experiences as well as opportunities to connect, grow and learn together in an inviting, safe and supportive setting.

The program facilitator plays a vital role in ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and enriching environment for children and families. This position requires someone who is enthusiastic, creative, culturally responsive, and passionate about early childhood development, family engagement, and delivering meaningful programming.The Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centre (SEYFRC) is committed to equity and inclusive representation within its community. Job duties will include :

  • Developing and implementing program activities in collaboration with the Program Designers and Centre Coordinator
  • Creating activities and crafts for children aged 0-5 years old
  • Connecting families to community resources and professionals
  • Facilitating engaging, age-appropriate learning opportunities for children, prenatal to age 5, and their families.
  • In collaboration with other staff, creating an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and accessible for diverse families. This includes new parents, caregivers, single parents, low-income families, Indigenous families, children with varying abilities, and new Canadians.
  • Being a part of the day-to-day operations at the centre (organizing, cleaning, planning, data recording and other tasks).
  • Assisting in promotion, communications and outreach as needed (may include attending community events, assisting with social media and other tasks).

Required skills and competencies :

  • Preference will be given to applicants with an ECE certificate or diploma, or equivalency of ECE Level I, II, or III. Other relevant education (bachelor's degree in human service field (education, social sciences, psychology, sociology, etc.) and experience is also acceptable
  • Experience working with children 5 years of age and younger
  • Ability to take initiative in planning and implementing relevant and applicable programs for children and families
  • Ability to be flexible and creative to meet the needs of families accessing the centre
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates respectful, empathetic, and collaborative teamwork with colleagues and families
  • Exhibits consistent professionalism in communication, appearance, conduct, and confidentiality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong creativity and planning skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Music, storytelling, or artistic abilities
  • Fluency in languages in addition to English is an asset

37.5 hr / week- must be available some evenings and weekends

20.15 per hour
