Position Summary :
Reporting to the AVP Associate Vice President, Acute Care Clinical Transformation and Growth.
The Program Director of Surgical and Perioperative Services is responsible for all activities related to the administrative and patient care functions within the designated portfolio. This includes patient care delivery, operational planning, HR development, financial management, quality management, education, and research. The Program Director will collaborate with clinical and program leaders to ensure activities and programs align with Mackenzie Health’s strategic goals and objectives, providing efficient and effective administrative and clinical practices.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Ensuring excellence in patient care and service delivery through continuous quality improvement processes.
- Liaising and collaborating with internal and external professionals and stakeholders to ensure practice standards are aligned and integrated across and within the Surgical Program.
- Working with physicians to develop patient care and unit management policies and procedures.
- Understanding the organization’s overall approach, including the ability to compete within the LHIN and consider relevant economic, environmental, and political factors.
- Providing guidance, leadership, and direction to the interdisciplinary team. Acting as a consultant and resource, while promoting critical inquiry and analysis among staff in client care provision.
Qualifications :
- Regulated Health Professional with Masters level education in Health or Business Management.
- Perioperative Nursing Certificate preferred.
- 3-5 years of perioperative nursing experience.
- Management experience of at least 5 years at the middle management level.
- Previous experience at the Director level is preferred.
- Progressive leadership experience in quality, resource, and utilization management.
- Excellent interpersonal, change management, team building, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong financial and statistical management abilities, including assessing, interpreting, and projecting budgetary needs.
- Experience in program planning and evaluation.
- Ability to discern relevant information for quick and effective decision-making.
- Ability to function effectively during periods of rapid change.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.

- Proven attendance record.
