Program Director, Summer Boarding Programs

Seasonal, Summer: June – August 2025

Compensation: $1000 Weekly

Appleby College’s Summer Boarding Program welcomes participants from around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds. Participants attend Appleby College to improve their English language skills and experience Canada. The Summer Boarding Program is modeled after the Appleby College student experience, with a goal of providing summer participants with a snapshot of what life as an Appleby College student is like. Participants will live in boarding, attend ESL class or day programming, participate in extra-curricular activities, and off-campus excursions. Residing on campus at Appleby College, the Program Director, Summer Boarding Programs is responsible for planning, program development, staff and parent engagement, staff training, and risk management of the on-campus living experience.

WHAT MAKES THIS JOB AMAZING?
Programming Planning
  • Organize, plan, and coordinate aspects of the Appleby Summer Boarding program.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Ancillary Boarding Programs to enhance program offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and protocols.
  • Develop and coordinate themes and activities.
  • Design and deliver training modules to support the professional development of Boarding Staff.
During Program
  • Foster a positive and safe Boarding Program culture by leading, motivating, and developing strong teams.
  • Create inclusive activities to engage all participants, including those who may be shy or hesitant.
  • Assist Boarding Staff in facilitation of large group activities and off-campus excursions.
  • Monitor and follow up on staff training to ensure the needs of both staff and participants are met.
  • Oversee the management of facilities, equipment, and programs in accordance with Appleby College's standards.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Serve as the first aid responder and manage behavioral concerns across the program area.
  • Ensure the Assistant Director, Ancillary is adequately briefed regarding incident reports, behavior management, and staff dynamics.
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
  • Have leadership experience in an overnight camp or recreational program setting.
  • Possess strong skills and experience working with children aged 10-17.
  • Have teaching or relevant work experience in camps or educational environments.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and confidence in leading games and activities for large groups.
