Job summary

Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a Program Development Educator to lead education and professional development within Primary Health Care, including Palliative Care and Home Care. Qualifications

  • Experience in program/resource development related to needs assessment and adult education
  • Three years experience in the specific clinical area

Responsibilities

  • Provide education, research, and quality client-centered care for a defined group of clients
  • Assess learning needs of staff and develop education plans
  • Develop research-based guidelines, processes, and protocols for care providers

Job Description: Under the direction of the Primary Health Care Manager, the Program Development Educator (PDE) integrates knowledge and skill reflective of the Health Services models of care and principles of adult learning, in the provision of education, research, and quality client centered care for a defined group of clients. The incumbent will provide visible, proactive leadership and promote the delivery of client centered care through identified education and programming. In collaboration with the Manager, the PDE is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff. The Program Development Educator will use a collaborative and consultative approach in the development of research based guidelines, processes and protocols that meet the needs of care providers and provide support to health care professionals as appropriate. This position will have specific responsibilities related to the specialized needs of clients within Primary Health Care including Palliative Care Services (Palliative Care Inpatient Unit and Palliative Home Care) and Home Care Services. The accountability for achieving the Primary Health Care goals and outcomes is shared by all Primary Health Services departments and therefore this position works within a matrix of relationships.

Experience
  • Requires experience in program/resource development related to needs assessment.
  • Experience in teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities
  • Three (3) years experience in the specific clinical area
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing

  • Home base for this position is: 2180 23rd Avenue (WRC)(Subject to change)
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced when a statutory holiday is recognized
