Campus & Community Recreation is the host of multiple wellness activities and events that run throughout the University of Alberta campus. This includes recreational events and programs that are available at South Campus as well as North Campus. Campus & Community Recreation offers programs and facilities aimed at meeting the needs and interests of the broad range of communities that we serve. Position Summary
The Coordinator positions within Campus & Community Recreation (CCR) assist in coordinating the day-to-day operations of Campus & Community Fitness, Leisure & Wellness programs and events. The Coordinator assists with the development, administration and evaluation of various programs and events for the University Community and the general public on the north and south campuses. The PC assists with error correction, coaching and scheduling of student, casual and contract staff, program delivery, facility coordination and risk management of designated program areas of Campus & Community Recreation.
The Coordinator may be assigned duties in the area of Fitness Leisure and Wellness, including group fitness, dance, martial arts, recreational skating and crafts throughout the year based on operational needs. The Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of assigned fitness, wellness, and leisure programs and activities. This position will support virtual and digital program development, as well as planning and promotion for various programs and events. This position may serve as the liaison for group fitness certifications for Campus & Community Recreation. The Group Fitness certification liaison will provide a voice for CCR to advocate for hosting and implementing on-campus certification opportunities for students and the community in the areas of group fitness. The PC will coordinate the collaboration and delivery of courses in this area as directed by the Program Supervisor.
The Coordinator will have responsibilities in the day-to-day operation & delivery of fitness facilities, programs, personal training, as well as other special event activities. Within a framework of sport and facility management, tasks associated include facility operations, event management, competitive & recreational structure, student leadership development, and engaging users in safely utilizing the fitness centers. CCR facilities, events & programs engage the University of Alberta Community in various outreach and engagement activities that may include drop-in use, programs, workshops, events, group rentals and outdoor adventure programs. The Coordinator will also participate in the implementation of other campus events (such as Reccrawl, orientation activities, open house events, competitions and fundraising activities) and promotions as required.
This position will be scheduled to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
