Job Description

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Program Coordinator assists Recreation Programmers with developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs and events. Responsibilities include supervising part-time staff and volunteers, and increasing community awareness and participation at the Town’s recreational facilities.

Job Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma in Recreation or related field + 2+ years experience in recreation programs or equivalent.
  • Effective leadership in recreation planning/programming, including supervision of staff.
  • Experience with recruitment, payroll, and e-recruit software.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain composure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, supervisory, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in report writing, spreadsheets, graphics, registration, contract development, financial reconciliation, scheduling, and Microsoft Office; Xplor experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as AODA, MFIPPA, OHSA, and Employment Standards Act.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certifications.
  • Additional certifications like HIGH FIVE, NLS, LSS Instructor/Swim Instructor, AST are assets.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention or Safe Management certification is an asset.
  • Class G Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and at various sites, with 50-70% of work during evenings and weekends.
