Job summary

Interior Community Services seeks a Program Coordinator to oversee the Desmond House supported home, coordinating daily operations, staffing, and training to deliver inclusive services for adults with diverse abilities. You will supervise workers, manage budgets, and ensure safety and documentation standards are met.

The role involves after-hours on-call duties and occasional weekends, with compensation of CAD 35.82–41.13 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree (preferred) in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field
  • 2 years of related experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of relevant supervisory/leadership experience
  • Valid BC Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License an asset
  • BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Safe driving record
  • Own vehicle with Business Use and $5 million liability insurance (Reimbursement for increased premiums is provided)
  • Consent to Criminal Record and Background Checks
  • The following trainings are required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certifications are an asset: CPR-C, Mandt (R,C,T), SafeTalk, Medication Management, Safe Food Handling, CLBC Privacy, Anti-Bullying, and Harassment.
  • This position requires UCFW Union membership, and 1.8% union dues is deducted from each paycheque
  • After-hours on-call responsibility: Mon-Fri after 4:30 PM for Desmond House
  • Some weekends on a rotational basis with the rest of the On-call team, for all CLS CLS-supported homes.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in staff hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, and coaching to ensure high-quality service.
  • Manages staff performance, conducts evaluations, and addresses issues in collaboration with the Program Manager and/or Director.
  • Leads regular staff meetings and maintains a professional, engaged team culture.
  • Oversees program documentation, evaluations, and reporting in line with agency and funder standards.
  • Manages program budget and spending, maintaining financial records.
  • Collaborates with interest holders, other service providers, and families of individuals to coordinate services and plans.
  • Ensures staff follow health and safety policies and maintain required documentation.
  • Supports staff in crisis situations and goal-setting with clients and interest holders.
  • Reviews and oversees client files, ensuring accuracy and relevancy of daily activities to the goals.
  • Oversees safety and maintenance of program assets, including household items and vehicles.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies as part of the after-hours emergency on-call team.

  • Option 1:10.6% additional pay with every paycheckOR
  • Option 2:Vacation accrual at 3 weeks per year (6%) and a stat holiday bank (5% of worked hours).

  • Interior Community Services is a Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) employer. Temporary part-time employees' entitlement to MPP is determined after 2 years of continuous service in the role. If the candidate is already a contributing member, then enrollment is on hire.

ABOUT THE JOB:

The Program Coordinator (PC) oversees the day-to-day operations for CLBC-funded Desmond House supported home, including planning, coordination, and administration of support services and training, supervision, and performance management of support workers who help create an inclusive, safe, and clean living environment for adults with diverse abilities where they find opportunities to build their daily life skills including physical, recreational, social, and emotional development, to connect with the community and to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible.

PROGRAM: CLBC Supported Homes - Desmond House
STATUS: Temporary Full-Time
DURATION: 12 months or until return of the incumbent
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, flexible schedule within the standard office hours of 8:30 am-4:30 pm with occasional work performed on evenings or weekends to meet clients' needs.

After-hours on-call responsibility:

  • Some weekends on a rotational basis with the rest of the On-call team, for all CLS CLS-supported homes.
