Job description

Wellspring Alberta is a charitable organization that supports, informs, and empowers those diagnosed with cancer by helping them address the fear, isolation, disruption and practical problems that cancer can bring to their lives. An affiliate of the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, Wellspring Alberta provides a comprehensive range of programs, support, resources, and other services so anyone living with cancer and the people who care about them can improve the quality of their lives. All programs and services are informed by evidence and offered free of charge and without referral in three centres and online. Our vision is that no one has to face cancer alone.

Wellspring Alberta’s work is made possible through the generous donations of individuals, corporations, foundations and grassroots fundraisers, and with the efforts of committed volunteers, dedicated staff and skilled contracted program leaders.

The opportunity

Wellspring Alberta is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to support our in‑person and online program offerings. Reporting to the Centre Manager and working closely with the Program Manager, Program Director and program team, the Program Coordinator supports our members, program leaders and volunteers in the daily management and running of our over 70 programs. This role is responsible for, together with the program team, coordinating and supporting our wide spectrum of evidence‑informed programming. This role will be primarily located onsite at Edmonton House, also supporting our online programs, and will include some evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities
  • Warmly greet and welcome members, volunteers, program leaders and other visitors to Wellspring, in‑centre and online.
  • In all interactions, ensure that members feel respected, empowered, compassionate and a sense of community and belonging.
  • Answers phones and assists members with both Wellspring related and community resource related questions.
  • In collaboration with the Centre Manager, ensures daily centre procedures run smoothly.
  • Ensure that day‑to‑day operations and the member experience of programs at centres and online unfolds efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee the scheduling, preparation, communication, monitoring, and evaluation of programs all occur as per Wellspring’s processes.
  • Support, coordinate with, and provide feedback to Wellspring’s contracted program leaders to ensure programs are run efficiently and to Wellspring’s high standards.
  • Responsible for inventory, maintenance and purchase of program equipment, as per budget.
  • Ensure that membership, attendance and other data is collected according to Wellspring’s standards and protocol and forwarded for processing and reporting.
  • Assist in supporting a culture of philanthropy.
  • Support the quality review process of the organization including ensuring appropriate actions are taken as a result of review findings.
Required knowledge and abilities
  • A post‑secondary education in Education, Business, Administration, Social Science, Social Work, Human Services or relevant field.
  • 3+ years’ experience
  • Community‑based, voluntary sector or educational setting experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in program scheduling and implementation.
  • High degree of technology proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and comfort in learning other applications an asset.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of cancer on individuals and families.
  • Enjoy working with a community of diverse individuals and families.
  • Highly organized, with excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability and comfort working in a fast‑paced, adaptive environment.
  • Mature, warm, professional demeanor.
