Hours:

Regular Part time - 5.5 hours per day, 5 days per week

How You Will Make An Impact

The SAM Program is an Adult Day Service Program offering recreational, social, and physical activities to seniors and adults with diminished abilities. We are seeking a qualified individual for a Relief Program Assistant to work at the SAM Central site located at 10 Pearl St N in Hamilton.

  • Participation in implementation of daily recreational/social program activities
  • Assisting with morning refreshments and lunches
  • Assisting clients with Activities of Daily Living
  • Assisting with preparation for social/recreational and other client support activities
  • Regular cleaning and disinfection of program areas and equipment
  • Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
What You'll Bring To Our Team
  • Diploma, degree, or certification in relevant health or social/community services field
  • Demonstrated interest/experience in working with seniors
  • Knowledge and experience in working with persons with dementia
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff, students, and volunteers as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Adult Day Service/community experience is an asset
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is required
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
