Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a clerical Program Assistant with experience in Mental Health settings to join the Mental Health & Substance Use Administration casual pool at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Program Assistant in Mental Health and Substance Use with VCH, you will:

  • Provide administrative/clerical support as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Handle verbal and written referrals for new patients/clients, answer phones, greet clients, coordinate appointments, and respond to inquiries.
  • Arrange and attend departmental meetings, record notes, or take minutes.
  • Maintain filing systems, keep timekeeping records, and process online purchase requisitions for equipment and supplies.
  • Type and transcribe healthcare documents, medical dictations, correspondence, reports, and presentations using intermediate word processing and spreadsheet software.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 education, supplemented with courses in medical transcription and two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
