Job description
Through our offices in Boston and Malden, ABCD's Housing and Homelessness Prevention Department supports people in their search and works to prevent families from entering homelessness by providing housing counseling. We provide information to help people navigate the maze of paperwork and procedures that come with subsidized housing. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as initial point-of-contact for customers and greets guests entering the department.
  2. Assist programs in the organization of contracts, budgets, and files.
  3. Assist with coordinating and conducting housing workshops, appointment scheduling, and following up with clients regarding needed documentation for department programs.
  4. Answer telephones, take messages, forward calls.
  5. Respond promptly to email inquiries for housing services.
  6. Prescreen calls, collect documents, and perform data entry for service referral and completion.
  7. Develop knowledge of the department’s data management and data reporting needs.
  8. Ensure the utilization of appropriate client data collection and reporting systems as new programs are developed.
  9. Develop forms necessary for intake, tracking, follow-up, and reporting.
  10. Maintain time logs, mail logs, and client registers.
  11. Maintain the record system for reports, requests, and personnel information.
  12. Type, circulate, and mail correspondence.
  13. Order and distribute office supplies, keeping track of office inventory.
  14. Assist with onboarding and training of new Housing staff.
  15. Refer customers to ABCD Departments and other social service agencies for additional services, as needed.
  16. Assist in conducting outreach, scheduling information sessions, and providing general support to the program, as needed.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
  1. A Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and up to 12 months relevant experience required.
  2. Ability to be organized and process a high volume of client calls and emails.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  4. Ability to use technology to effectively perform job duties.
  5. Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds.
  6. Bilingual skill in Haitian Creole or Spanish is required.
