Job description

Northern College is seeking a Professor, Nursing, in our School of Health Sciences. The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable and approachable team member with a commitment to excellence in Health Sciences education and student success. They will support ongoing research and scholarship.

Reporting to the Dean, Health and Veterinary Sciences, the successful candidate will:

  1. Act as an academic advisor to students.
  2. Participate as a leader and effective team member in college groups.
  3. Create a positive teaching and learning environment using various strategies and materials in multi-modal course delivery.
  4. Embark on professional development to maintain currency and relevance of teaching materials and assessment techniques.
  5. Participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives.
  6. Ensure capacity for leadership in a multicultural organization.
  7. Contribute to research and scholarship activities.
  8. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (CASN / CNO).

Qualifications:

  • Master of Nursing (must be completed by August 31, 2025) or a PhD in Nursing or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in direct patient care in a healthcare-related field (experience in an acute care setting preferred).
  • Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Valid First Aid / CPR Certification.
  • Evidence of Professional Liability Protection.
  • Proof of required immunizations.
  • Knowledge or experience with CASN / CNO accreditation processes (preferred).
  • Certifications or training in simulation-based teaching (preferred).
  • Experience in healthcare-related research or scholarship (preferred).
  • Experience with various modes of teaching delivery (video, web-based, etc.) (preferred).
