About the Professor, Indigenous Determinants of Health Role:
As part of our commitment to Indigenous Education, and in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Calls to Action # 7, 12, 22, 23, and 24, Humber has created a Professor, Indigenous Determinants of Health role to support the growth and development of culturally safe education and professional practice. The successful candidate will have experience effectively weaving Indigenous ways of being, knowing and doing in the classroom, as well as demonstrated capacity to build and/or support Indigenous research, scholarly or artistic work, broad curriculum development, land-and-culture based pedagogic practice. The successful candidate will co-teach a Two-Eyed Seeing Land-Based course which takes place entirely outdoors.
Added to this, the candidate will further develop community partnerships, including relationships with regional Indigenous communities and organizations, participate on a variety of committees, and advance college initiatives. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the Faculty, supporting promotion and marketing, and developing/maintaining strong industry ties.
The successful candidate will work as a collaborative team member, and in addition will be expected to play an active role in strategic planning, faculty development, student advising in field practicum courses, student recruitment, and graduate placement.
