A community college in Ontario seeks a part-time professor for their Deaf Empowerment Program to teach adult learners in ASL. The role requires fluency in ASL, a background in education, and experience in teaching Deaf/Deafblind adults. Responsibilities include developing teaching materials, fostering a positive environment, and adapting to diverse learner needs. The position offers up to 25 hours per week until the end of October, with a possibility for extension.

Start Rate: Upon hire, Human Resources will conduct a rate calculation based on completed education and work experience to determine the step within the pay range.

Community Programs and Services requires a part-time Professor to teach in the “Deaf Empowerment Program” (DEP). The Deaf Empowerment Program is the ‘Deaf stream’ of the Academic Upgrading Program designed to assist individuals in acquiring the necessary academic standing to gain entry into postsecondary studies, apprenticeship training and improve their career and employment prospects. The Deaf Empowerment Program provides a learner-centred, goal-directed and outcome-based learning environment for adult learners.
The successful applicant will be teaching in American Sign Language (ASL) to Deaf, deafened, and hard-of-hearing adults in a barrier-free and learner-centred environment.
