Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH is seeking a Senior Stress Integration Engineer to lead sizing activities for major aircraft interfaces and to supervise Structural Suppliers across multiple programs. The role emphasizes substantiation, documentation, and certification support in a collaborative aerospace environment.

You will apply extensive experience in aerostructure sizing, material fatigue and regulatory requirements, working within a team to deliver high-quality structural solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering with at least 10 years of aerospace experience.
  • Experience in OEM stress integration or equivalent and aerostructure design.
  • Contributed to at least one aircraft development program, preferably during conceptual design and sizing.
  • Extensive knowledge of aeronautical structure sizing principles and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to sizing on structural work packages and support design activities for interfaces between Structural Suppliers.
  • Monitor, support and provide guidance to Structural Suppliers to ensure quality product and documentation.
  • Ensure harmonization of sizing methodologies between Structures work packages.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation including manuals, requirements, reports, stress analysis files and memos.
  • Review and approve structural substantiation reports from Structural Suppliers.
  • Support the coordination of Certification-related activities for the work package.
  • Provide visibility to management of status and emerging issues related to supported activities.

What are your contributions to the team?


  • Contribute to the conceptual sizing on structural work packages and support design activities for major interfaces between Structural Suppliers.

  • Monitor, support and provide guidance to the work package Structural Suppliers to ensure a quality product and supporting documentation are produced.

  • Ensure the harmonization of sizing methodologies and guidelines between the Structures work packages.

  • Prepare and review the required engineering documentation, i.e., manuals, requirements, reports, presentations, justification notes and memos, stress analysis files and models, among others.

  • Review and approve structural substantiation reports from the Structural Suppliers.

  • Support the coordination of Certification related activities that directly pertains to the work package.

  • Provide clear visibility to management of the status and/or emerging issues related to the supported activities.


How to thrive in this role?


  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in the aerospace industry.

  • You have relevant experience in OEM stress integration role or equivalent function as well as in aerostructure design house or supplier.

  • You have contributed actively to at least one aircraft development program, ideally during conceptual design and sizing phases.

  • You have significant experience in Aircraft Structural substantiation analysis.

  • You have an excellent knowledge, supported by experience, of the sizing principles of an aeronautical structure, including regulatory requirements, manufacturing constraints and aircraft level requirements.

  • You have a good knowledge and some experience of structural Damage Tolerance Analysis, preferably on Bombardier approved tools and methodologies.

  • You have some experience with sizing and certification of composite material parts and assemblies

  • You are a confident, knowledgeable and energetic personwith excellent communication and listening skills that is able to work in a team environment.

  • You have a good understanding of aircraft manufacturing methods and processes.

  • You have experience using FEA software, Siemens Simcenter 3D is an asset.

  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communication to suit the audience. You strive for harmonious cohesive teamwork.
