Job summary

Bombardier Dorval is seeking a Senior Professional in Engineering for Fly By Wire and Secondary Flight Control Systems. The candidate will lead integration, define concepts with suppliers and ensure certification readiness across Challenger/Global platforms.

Required 7+ years in aerospace, degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, and experience with FBW systems. Travel to suppliers and regulatory sites may be required. Fluency in English and French is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of aerospace experience.
• Direct involvement in the definition and certification of at least one FBW and/or Secondary Flight Control system.
• Knowledge of Part 25 certification process.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform the integration of the FBW & Secondary Flight Controls system on the aircraft.
• Support the development of concepts, design approach and philosophy with the Flight Control system supplier.
• Develop, validate and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.
• Review/Prepare test procedures and execute test rig and/or aircraft testing.
• Review/Prepare test reports in support of certification activities.
• Resolve problems arising from in-service aircraft; troubleshoot and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance to the ARP4754 development process.
• Support trade off studies and life cycle cost analysis for future programs.
• Occasional trips to supplier facilities and regulatory authorities; on-site support to assembly and test centers.

The FBW & Secondary Flight Control Engineering team and the business are looking for a Senior Professional, Engineering who has product and process to ensure a sustaining program (Challenger, Global Express, Global 8000) while preparing it for the challenges and demands of the future (Ecojet).

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform the integration of the FBW & Secondary Flight Controls system on the aircraft.


• Support the development of concepts, design approach and philosophy with the Flight Control system supplier.


• Perform/Review analysis to evaluate concepts feasibility.


• Develop, validate and verify technical requirements of the Flight Control System.

• Occasional trips to the Suppliers facilities and Regulatory Authorities, as well as on-site support to the Final Assembly Line (Toronto & Montreal), Completion Centers (Montreal), Flight Test Center (Wichita).

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in aerospace related field.


• You have been directly involved in the definition and certification of at least one FBW and/or Secondary Flight Control system.


• You possess a good understanding of all facets of system definition, integration, and certification and have a knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (e.g., electrical, hydraulic, avionics, auto-flight).


• You have knowledge of Part 25 certification process.


• Experience in modeling and dynamic simulation of flight controls electrical and hydraulic actuators is an asset.


• You have a working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow simulation environment.


• Some familiarity with other simulation environments such as ADAMS, or design tools such as CATIA would be an asset.


• Good knowledge of MS Office and Requirements Management tools is an asset.
