Engineering Manager @ Northern Sprinkler Design Inc.
The Professional Engineer is a highly motivated, organized, self-directed, and self-learning individual willing to contribute their knowledge and expertise, providing leadership to our team of design professionals in the design of fire protection systems. The Professional Engineer will be based in our London, Ontario office.
Responsibilities
- Review and seal completed design documents and ensure projects are completed efficiently and successfully per company standard operating procedures and in accordance with all codes and standards.
- Provide technical support, value-added design evaluation, mentorship and continual developmental coaching to Junior Designers.
- Conduct periodic field review of fire protection systems during their installation.
- Provide sealed field review reports to clients, architects, consultants, contractors, municipalities, etc.
- Evaluate field review reports to ensure conformance with all local codes, approved drawings, project specifications and contract documents.
- Work closely with all stakeholders, including the NSD team, sprinkler contractors, general contractors, architects, consultants, building owners, local building officials and fire inspectors to ensure the continued success of all projects.
- Other duties and responsibilities, pertaining to their expertise, as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (fire protection, mechanical, electrical, or construction).
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- Experience in the construction industry / project management an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret codes, technical specifications and building construction drawings including architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical.
- Possesses a Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to jobsites throughout Canada.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in the fire protection industry is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the following codes is an asset: OBC, NBC, NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14 & 20.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to clearly communicate, in writing and verbally, with all project stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize, meet project deadlines and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
