Job description

Introduction

We are seeking reliable and safety-conscious worker to join our client’s team located in Lethbridge County, Alberta, Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing tasks associated with harvest such as conditioning, treating, and packing of seed. Additionally, warehousing, inventory, and working with Microsoft office. This position requires manual handling and lifting of bags up to 50 lbs. This is an eight-month contract opportunity with a rotating shift schedule that is available immediately. The start date is August 11th, 2025.

The shift for this role rotates every two weeks (morning shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, evening shift, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM). This role offers full eight hour days, five days per week, with the possibility of overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks associated with harvest, conditioning and treat/packaging, some general repair and maintenance, as directed by supervisor.
  • Harvest activities from receiving to storage.
  • Conditioning activities such as cleaning and sizing, treating and packaging, palletizing, wrapping and sampling.
  • Shipping/receiving, interplant movement, rework, warehousing, and inventory management of bagged and bulk seed, including the safe operation of forklifts.
  • Compliance with Work Instructions and Quality Plan requirement.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate records, documents, or reports such as quality, safety, grower, and inventory records.
  • September - October:
  • Receive and process trucks hauling crop from the field for weighing and unloading.
  • Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed.
  • Apply appropriate treatment to seed.
  • November - March
  • Label, tag, bag and palletize seed.
  • Enter inventory information into computer.
  • Stage seed for shipment in warehouse.
  • April - August:
  • Retag in-house seed.
  • Re-bag backhaul (returned) seed.
  • Inspect pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and clean.
  • Wash pro boxes as necessary.

Work Conditions

  • Dusty environment.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals for treating.
  • No driving required in this role.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma required.
  • Two-year agricultural diploma or related field of study.
  • Experience working with identifying and grading seeds.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Excel and Microsoft outlook.
  • Forklift Experience is helpful but not required for this role, can be willing to learn.
  • Experience in light industrial, manufacturing, seed cleaning and handling, or warehouse.
  • Knowledge of production agriculture.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • But no driving required in the role.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions and anticipate needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, reliability, work accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Willingness to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, dry, and dusty conditions.
  • Ability to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods.
  • Position may involve repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • PPE:
  • Leather gloves.
  • CSA approved safety glasses.
  • Hearing protection
  • Hi-Viz safety vest
  • Long sleeves (for any handling of our treated seed, packaged or unpackaged)
  • CSA approved steel-toe boots (covers the ankle and has the green CSA triangle). Possibly available at south side Marks and/or Peavey Mart.
  • Corteva (The Company) will supply an orange hard hat to the agency worker, along with any other specialty PPE they require for a task.
  • Hard hat - hard hat to be Hi-Viz and have a Class E rating.
