Job summary

Magna Exteriors in Ontario is seeking a dedicated supervisor to oversee scheduling, auditing and staffing for the department. You will lead problem solving, drive continuous improvement, and be accountable for yield, utilization and labor efficiency.

Requirements include a minimum of five years in automotive manufacturing, a Grade 12 education, and proven supervisory experience. Strong leadership, communication and safety mindedness are essential, with willingness to work overtime and train

  • Assign, audit & schedule appropriate manpower & overtime to ensure payroll reporting & business needs are met.
  • Ensure safety standards are being met through safety talks, accident/incident reporting, SPOTMs, inspections and daily team meetings.
  • Maintain records, generate and provide downtime, utilization, throughput and shift reports.

Job description

Responsibilities

Responsible for assigning, auditing, and scheduling work for employees within the department. Leads team in problem solving and continuous improvement. Accountable for the yield, utilization, and labor efficiency of the department.

Main Duties
  • Scheduling, sequencing and delivery of product
  • Supervises employees within department, lead team meetings, provide training, guidance, mentoring and performance management to ensure employee productivity
  • Assign, audit & schedule appropriate manpower & overtime to ensure payroll reporting & business needs are met
  • Ensure safety standards are being met through safety talks, accident/incident reporting, SPOTMs, inspections and daily team meetings
  • Communicate and follow MOD Bulletins/Quality Alerts (signed off)
  • Manage cost metrics including team performance boards (standardized work, safety, quality, productivity, audits)
  • Implement continuous improvements in yield, utilization, labor efficiency, cost reduction, 5S, safety and quality
  • Support and manage employee issues including progressive discipline
  • Effectively manage the Principles of the Employee Charter
  • Determine training requirements for the team and ensure matrices are updated
  • Maintain records, generate and provide downtime, utilization, throughput and shift reports
  • Perform all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Immediate, open position
  • Annual compensation $93,330 - $103,700
  • Minimum grade 12 education required
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to motivate a team
  • Ability to provide guidance, coaching and mentorship
  • Strong problem solving and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Computer literate (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong awareness of safety and quality mindedness
  • Proven ability to work in a self‑directed manner with changing priorities
  • Technical/mechanical awareness for troubleshooting and resolving robot and machine downtime
  • Ability to work and train with maintenance staff to actively control and operate equipment
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime as required
