Job description

Production Support Engineer

Our Client requires a “hands on” Production Support Engineer to support a number of its existing manufacturing cells. The successful applicant will have a strong technical background and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a medium/high volume mechanical/manufacturing environment.

The key outputs and deliverables of the role are as follows:

1. Support manufacturing processes and provide process improvements to existing products.
2. Define and validate manufacturing processes for upgraded products or new products.
3. Support mechanical/electrical assembly jigs, fixtures, and purpose-built test equipment.
4. Process analysis and product quality reporting.
5. Work closely with other Engineers and Production Staff to drive quality standards and improvements.
6. Collaborate with Product Designers to ensure the product is designed for assembly.

All applicants must possess the following:

1. Educated to at least degree level in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mid/high volume manufacturing environment.
3. Experience in the use of structured problem-solving techniques.
4. Good “can do” attitude and ability to work well in a team.
5. ‘Hands-on’ ability.

Although not essential, it is desirable if applicants have the following:

1. Experience with practical application of Six Sigma tools, including but not limited to Statistical Process Control, Gauge Studies & Process Capability.
2. Experience in the use of Excel and related business intelligence tools for data analysis.
3. Experience in practical application of Industry 4.0 real-time data analytics, including but not limited to Power BI, SQL, and VBA/Excel.
4. Experience in practical application of Lean Projects.
5. Experience in Design, Validation & Implementation of assembly fixtures.
6. Experience using and interpreting technical drawings including GD&T’s.

Person specification:

An enthusiastic ‘hands-on’ individual, with a strong mechanical background and good interpersonal and organizational skills is required to fill this role.
