Production Support

The Truro Sawmill is looking to fill general labourer jobs with reliable, hard-working individuals who have a positive, safety-conscious attitude, and who work well as part of a team. This is a full-time position with day and night shifts on a continental schedule. Experience working in manufacturing or in a production environment is required.

Qualifications

• Someone able to lift, pull and pile materials
• Access to reliable transportation, or reside within close proximity to the job site
• Someone able to stand and walk for most of the shift
• Someone able to work 12 hour shifts on a rotating day/night cycle
• Someone able to work in an industrial environment which includes noise, dust, heights, and vibrations
• Someone who possesses a safety-first attitude who strives for results
• Someone who is naturally curious about the forestry industry

Responsibilities

Assists in the production of raw lumber into planed, dressed, dimensional lumber through the control and operations of automated lumbermill equipment. This is done through equipment consoles and overhead stationary cranes, as well as manually with the use of hand tools such as pike poles and picaroons. Cleaning and fire watch are also part of this role, using brooms, shovels, and other cleaning tools, and fire extinguishers.
