Job description
Overview

A Day in the Life:

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of day-to-day assigned production operations department shift. They will support the Production Manager in monitoring and improving plant productivity.

The contract term for this role is 12 months.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries.
  • Oversee assigned department production shift activities to ensure operations are running at the highest levels of efficiency.
  • Ensure assigned shift is compliant with sanitation requirements. May provide support in the monthly sanitation inspections and implementation of any corrective actions as necessary.
  • Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Track and report shift productivity improvements
  • Approve daily reports and KPRs for the assigned shift.
  • Report and troubleshoot operations issues.
  • Provide input to the Production Manager to plan annual shutdowns
  • Support Process Safety Management programs, where applicable
  • Work with the Safety/Environmental Manager to ensure compliance of assigned shift in all aspects
  • Help develop and drive Operations Excellence Plans to meet safety, quality and production goals and show continuous improvement in assigned shift.
  • Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the assigned shift.
  • Monitor KPRs and help develop plans to bring assigned shift in line with Operations Excellence goals.
  • Periodically participate in the daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the assigned shift operations activities are aligned.
  • Participate in personnel investigations and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent progressive experience of 3+ years in soybean crushing, oil refining, milling, oil packaging operations, or related and applicable activities in support of industrial operations is required
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and other technical software packages, as needed
  • Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule required
Work Schedule
  • 12-hour rotating shift (48 hour week/36 hour week)
