Job summary

IPEX is seeking a Production Supervisor at our Edmonton, Alberta plant. You will lead manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives while supporting employee development and continuous improvement.

This role reports to the Production Manager and follows a 2-2-3 Continental Shift Structure, emphasizing teamwork, data-driven decision making, and active engagement with maintenance and process management to minimize downtime and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory capacity within a manufacturing environment.
• Lean manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
• Excellent leadership/coaching, written & verbal communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
• A solid understanding of computers including Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and output targets are achieved.
• Execute production schedules by optimizing labor resources, equipment utilization, and workflow.
• Lead shift transition meetings and communicate priorities, performance expectations, and operational updates.
• Monitor production metrics, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective actions to resolve issues and improve results.
• Troubleshoot operational challenges and coordinate with Maintenance, Process Management, and other support teams to minimize downtime.
• Analyze production reports, including output, scrap, downtime, and labor performance, to support data-driven decision-making.
• Manage departmental resources, materials, and expenditures while supporting budget and cost-control initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards, ISO requirements, and operational procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and audit readiness.
• Coach, mentor, and develop production employees through performance management, training, and cross-functional skill development.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training activities to build a capable and engaged workforce.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Champion health, safety, and environmental programs by ensuring compliance with company policies, supporting incident investigations, and promoting safe work practices.
• Lead 5S, standard work, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing safety, quality, productivity, and sustainability.
