Our Hamilton Kent, Toronto Plant is seeking a Day Shift Production Supervisor. The shift will be Monday to Friday, 7 : 00am – 3 : 00pm.

This position will be responsible for supervising fabrication, injection, and compression molding departments, verifying procedures, monitoring costs, and assisting the Maintenance Manager with purchasing spares. The supervisor will lead and coordinate production activities focused on continuous improvement, ensuring safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping, and cost control to meet plant goals.

  • Manage staff activities to ensure daily products meet quality standards and budget as per the schedule.
  • Implement and enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Identify performance and quality issues; develop action plans to address variances.
  • Provide performance metrics to help management identify issues related to performance and downtime.
  • Communicate with lead hands to facilitate optimized production and review safety or quality concerns.
  • Monitor daily production schedules, plan labor, raw materials, and machine utilization for fabrication and molding areas.
  • Review previous day’s performance with Plant Manager and other Supervisors; address variances and ensure goals are met.
  • Ensure all molding and fabrication requirements are identified at least three days in advance for smooth operation.
  • Oversee fabrication, extrusion, and molding departments, optimizing labor use and prioritizing tasks.
  • Conduct systematic surveys in compliance with ISMS Element 23.0 Job Task Analysis and participate in action plan development.
  • Develop and implement rules and work instructions based on JTAs, accident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with employees on machinery, equipment, and tooling improvements to enhance safety and productivity.

Required Skills / Qualifications

  • College or University completion preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory / management experience in a related industry.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, extrusion, injection, and compression molding; experience in rubber or plastics manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to use or learn measurement tools related to gasket manufacturing.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
